Fran Charles
Studio Host
Fran Charles joined USA Sports in July 2002 as the studio host of USA's extensive professional golf coverage. Charles' extensive resume includes work for HBO and NBC Sports, as well as for local network affiliates in New York and Boston.
Charles hosts all of USA Network's studio segments during USA's coverage of PGA TOUR events, and also hosts USA's weekly golf show, PGA TOUR Sunday.
Prior to his current duties on USA, Charles was seen on HBO Sports as USA's blow-by-blow announcer for the boxing series KO Nation. He also worked for HBO on Boxing After Dark, World Championship Boxing, and HBO Pay-Per-View.
Charles previously anchored sports at WNBC-TV's Today In New York (1998-2002), and his debut there also marked the premiere of Today In New York's live daily sports segments. Charles also served as an anchor and reporter for NBC Sports, where he anchored the weekend Sportsdesk show and provided live reports and interviews for NBA on NBC.
Charles came to New York following a three-year stint at WHDH-TV in Boston, three years at Dayton, Ohio's WDTN-TV, and one year at KSDK-TV in St. Louis. In Boston and Dayton, Charles served as the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter, while in St. Louis he was a reporter and assignment editor.
Charles was born on October 19, 1968 in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Stanford University, and earned a degree in communications and a master of science degree from Columbia University School of Journalism. He resides in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife, Gina, and son and daughter.
