When an expert hacker drains a prominent New York bank, Neal assumes the criminal's identity in order to spend the pilfered fortune and draw him out of hiding.
SYNOPSIS:
Sara becomes one of thousands of New Yorkers to be left penniless when a cyber-thief takes control of the server at Manhattan Mutual Bank and siphons $125 million into a Swiss bank account. The evidence points to a legendary hacker named Vulture, but without jurisdiction in the banking world and street cred in the hacking world, Peter and the FBI are hamstrung.
At the same time, Sara's money woes prompt Neal to invite her to live with him-just for the time being, of course. But she, Neal and Mozzie soon hit on a quick way to solve the case: spend the thief out of hiding! With a little clever conning at Manhattan Mutual, the threesome takes control of the Swiss account and embarks on a lavish shopping spree that would draw out even the most agoraphobic of hackers.
But Peter also notices the alarming account activity, and to put it mildly, he's not pleased. Trying to right the ship, he orders them to return their ill-gotten swag and help him track down Vulture. Mozzie grudgingly agrees to help set a tête-à-tête with the shadowy cybercriminal, but when someone starts taking shots at Vulture during the meeting, they realize that the hacker is innocent, and that the real thief is still out there, and armed...
