A no-nonsense federal agent in the FBI's White Collar Crime Unit, Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) believes in earning success the old-fashioned way, with perseverance and hard work.

It took him years of both, along with the steadfast support of his loving wife, Elizabeth, to finally catch elusive white-collar criminal Neal Caffrey. Despite his initial trepidations, Peter agreed to take the wily crook on as a partner.

But when a crooked agent from the Office of Professional Responsibility, Garret Fowler, threatens to collapse his career and tear apart his family, Peter's faith in the system is rattled. Although he still trusts the Bureau, Peter finds himself increasingly willing to take cues from Neal and draw outside the lines in order to preserve justice.
