Maira Suro serves as Executive Producer of the USA Network original series
The 4400.
Suro's current partnership with reality giant Renegade 83 began in July 2003, and a previous
partnership with Francis Ford Coppola ran from July 2001 to July 2003. During that time,
she produced the acclaimed hip-hop drama series
Platinum, which aired on UPN in 2004,
produced
In My Life, a pilot for The WB, and set-up numerous series projects,
several of which are still in active development.
From November 1997 to November 2000, Suro was Senior Vice President of Drama Development at UPN.
During that tenure, she shepherded more than 40 scripts and was instrumental in working with and
launching series for high-caliber talent like Tom Fontana, Michael Connelly, and Joel Silver.
Prior to her time at UPN, Suro was the Vice President of Series Development for Spelling
Entertainment Group, where she developed several series including the WB hits
7th Heaven and
Charmed.
Suro's television experience began at Columbia Pictures Television as Manager of Drama Development,
where she developed one-hour series as well as movies of the week and miniseries.
She was then hired at CBS as the Director of Drama Development, where she developed
over 100 hour scripts and supervised more than 25 pilots, including for the series
Chicago Hope and
Touched by an Angel.
Suro is a graduate of UCLA, where she earned a BA in Sociology.
