THE EX-FILES (#SW_106)
EPISODE PREMIERE: November 7, 2008
Molly’s not the only one with ex-spouse problems. Zach’s ex-wife, Jolie, just had her boyfriend Jeff move in and on top of that, Jolie and Jeff are throwing Skylar an over-the-top birthday party. Molly can’t help but be impressed with (and a little turned on by) Zach’s ability to remain Zen-like about these potentially upsetting pieces of news. Since Kenny won’t change weekends with Molly because he wants to be the one to take Jaden to the party so he can hobnob, Zach asks Molly to go with him now that their respective daughters seem unfazed by the news that Zach and Molly are dating.
Unbelievably, it’s time for David Shea’s graduation from Destinies. To celebrate his newfound sobriety, he asks Joan to go with him to Morocco while he shoots his next film. She laughs him off, though part of her would love nothing more than the romantic adventure. Then Joan’s covert relationship is outed to Rodney and Molly when Molly sees a sexy text message from “David S.” appear on Joan’s phone. Rodney is personally offended that Joan would sleep with such a despicable, bigoted man and Molly is hurt that Joan kept the information from her. To make matters worse, Robin abruptly left rehab early without a word after realizing that Joan was lying to her about David, making Joan feel even more like she failed the young girl, and Gary—who has been out for Joan since Day One—has finally caught Joan and David canoodling. Gary tattles about the forbidden affair to Anthea, who has no other choice but to fire Joan. With her whole life imploding around her, Joan tells Pappy she’s ready to embark on their six-month cruise thinking that maybe distance will break her new addiction to David Shea.
