Sandra Oh
The Ex Factor: Loved for her competitive yet romance-averse character, Dr. Cristina Yang on “Grey’s Anatomy,” the award-winning actress married director Alexander Payne in January 2003. Oh starred in the sleeper indie hit “Sideways,” directed by her husband, as the duped lover of one of the two forty-something guys who wreak havoc on a trip through California wine country. While Oh and Payne proved that they could work together successfully, their personal partnership didn’t quite pan out: the couple officially parted ways in October 2007 after two years of divorce proceedings.
Wife Begins Again: Taking up permanent residence on television proved to be a wise move for the native Canadian. Not only does she star on one of the most highly-rated shows on TV, but also she has received an Emmy nomination every season since “Grey’s Anatomy” premiered, nabbing both a Golden Globe and a SAG Award in 2006. This October she returns to the big screen as the Minister of Health (which she probably got because of all of her on-screen medical training), in the psychological thriller, “Blindness,” alongside Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. And with the much-anticipated premiere of season five of “Grey’s” imminent and no writer’s strike looming, Dr. Yang is sure to stay busy climbing over the bodies of her fellow residents as they canoodle in the hallways of Seattle Grace now that she has her surgical mojo back.
Love Interest:Or maybe, not so fast, Cristina: Oh’s alter ego will be getting a new love interest, played by Kevin McKidd of “Rome” fame. Maybe he can help her get her other mojo back.
