JUNE 2009 - WEEK 1

Polo hottie (the game played with horses, not the clothing brand), Stavros Niarchos, has been on the Hamptons A-List for a good while now, but it seems like some of the east end's nightclub doormen didn't get the memo. According to Page Six, the shipping heir, who is currently living and working in Manhattan with his eponymous foundation, was seen waiting to get in to Lily Pond nightclub in East Hampton because the doorman didn't recognize him. Luckily, club owner Michael Satksy came outside to escort the heartthrob inside. You can bet that velvet rope faux pas won't happen again!

Like everything else, the Hamptons real estate market has taken a hit, which means deals galore for savvy summer renters. And for those who managed to hold on to their dough, they can lay their heads on the very same pillows as some of the bigger stars for less coin. Want the Bridgehampton spread once rented by Kelly Ripa and handsome hubby Mark Consuelos? According to the New York Post, the price tag has been slashed from $230,000 to $175,000 for the season. Or would you rather claim to be sunning yourself by the pool in Wainscott where party-girl Lindsay Lohan once did? You can score her old place for $250,000, down a whopping $50,000 from its original rate.

Memorial Day Weekend marked the official kick-off of the Hamptons social season and any self-respecting party-hopper made sure that their name was on the list for Boris Kuester von Jurgens-Ratenicz's bash at his mega-estate, Shadow Pond. Though little is known about the source of the mysterious mogul's fortune, he is famous for hosting the best, most elaborate party of the year. After a long, gray winter, eastbound city-types let their hair down--among other things--Saturday night.
