Some people have hobbies like bowling or golf. I like to iron. And fold. And then unfold and iron. And then fold again. And then – you get the idea. Here are some of my favorite tips for keeping things organized and wrinkle-free.
CLOTHES
To cease the crease, fold clothes along their width when storing in drawers. Creases will drop out more quickly than if folded lengthwise. And do yourself a favor – OK, fine, do ME a favor – and be sure you fold things exactly in half. If you need to use a ruler, by all means do.
SHEETS
Fitted sheets – I don't like fitted sheets. I don't like folding fitted sheets. I don't even like thinking about those curled up edges on fitted sheets. But here's a tip to make folding them a little bit easier: Lay the sheet flat, elastic facing up. Fold over and neatly tuck one corner (turned inside out) into the other. Fold corners down diagonally to create a straight line. Fold lengthwise and continue to fold regularly. Please e-mail me if you need assistance.
Be (Almost) Wrinkle-Free – pull the sheets out of the dryer and fold them while they're still warm. If the sheets have cooled, throw a damp washcloth in the dryer and resume drying for 10 more minutes.
Sheet Storage – If you have sets of sheets, store them as a set. Sandwich the folded fitted sheet and pillowcases inside the folded flat sheet.
