FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 19, 2007
Hey there! My name is Cristy and Monk is my weekly escape. I'm currently an overworked and overstressed college student and Monk takes me away from my tiny dull campus to sunny California filled with mystery, suspense, and laughs. No matter where I am, I make sure that come nine o'clock I'm in my dorm room, even if it means wading
through 3 feet of snow to get there.
I have loved Monk ever since the end of the first season, and I literally mean the end of the first season. The first episode I ever saw was Mr. Monk and the Airplane. I remember every single detail of that wonderful hour as I sat in the dimly lit room of our rented vacation house in Maine. My dad and brother were fishing and my mom and I were left to our own devices. Flipping through the channels, I found it. Monk. I've been hooked ever since, never missing an episode and buying every season the week it comes out.
The characters really draw me in, each with their own little quirk that just makes me love them all the more. I especially love when episodes focus on character interactions and development. That's why Mr. Monk Visits a Farm is my favorite episode. It was nice to see Monk and Randy interact for a change. Randy has always been my favorite character and I adore Jason Gray-Stanford. If I could have any role on Monk I would want my character to interact with him, even if it was only for a split second. He's a good guy, eager to please and trying really hard, even if he does mess up from time to time. Hey, if Randy ever needs a sister to come back to California after being away at college in Pennsylvania, I'm your girl ;-) It's plausible, I mean Randy did go to college in PA, at least I think he did.
I wouldn't say I have too many OCD tendencies, though I do have a thing when it comes to my books. Never dog ear a page, don't rip any pages, don't fold the cover, and please please please no coffee stains!
I also hope to one day write for television, and to be able to write for a show like Monk would be amazing. The writers of Monk are my inspiration. My hat is off to the writers of this warm, funny, emotional, entertaining, and endearing show. Thanks for taking this college girl away from below zero weather to a place where she always feels warm.
Best and warmest regards,
