My name is Rachel. My parents are actually the ones that got me hooked on Monk. When I woke up Saturday mornings I used to hear my dad laughing all the way from the basement because he was watching Monk. He told me about some of the funny scenes from the show and I decided to watch it, and I totally loved it and I got hooked.

Since then I have been watching Monk all the time. I've practically memorized the first two seasons, which we have on DVD, and I love quoting Adrian, Randy, and Leland. I actually programmed my DVR to record every episode of Monk that is ever on TV so I don't miss any!

I think that I have my own Monk qualities that have probably magnified ever since I started watching the show. I really like that Monk always needs everything to be clean, I find myself acting similar. For example, I wash my hands all the time; I hate touching something that I think is dirty and then not being able to wash my hands, and I hate smelling food or anything other than soap on my hands. Sometimes when I wash, I wash 2 or 3 times just to make sure.

I also never dry my hands on the kitchen towel, since you never know what's on there; I always have to use a clean paper towel. I think I do many of these things out of fear of getting sick, which is, I think, a lot like Monk, and it is very helpful when I am taking care of my older brother who is suffering from a spinal cord injury because he tends to get sick more easily, and helps a lot if there are less germs around.

Monk really brings a laugh into the house, and I love watching him evolve throughout the show, and I find myself, more and more, paying attention to details and unintentionally saying or doing something that is very "Monkish".
