Bob Monti - Guest Expert
Episode 2
HSN quality assurance expert Bob Monti serves as a guest expert on the new USA Network original reality/competiton series Made in the USA. He appears on episode 2, "Does It Work?" to test the inventor teams' inventions for quality assurance.
Monti is the Senior Vice President of Operations for HSN. As such, he is responsible for the millions of products that move through a finely-tuned supply chain, originating at manufacturers across the globe, stopping at HSN's Quality Assurance Labs for a stringent round of testing, and then eventually arriving on the front doorstep of millions of customers each day. To accomplish this monumental task, Monti draws on over 20 years of retail logistics and systems development experience to oversee a myriad of functions including inbound and outbound transportation, vendor-managed inventory, process engineering, and quality assurance.
As the head of HSN's quality assurance team, Monti leads a talented group of 70 professional technicians ranging from chemists to microbiologists to tailors to graduate gemologists. Each year these "product detectives" test over 26,000 samples that are considered for possible sale on the 24-hour shopping network (which is more than twice the product of traditional retailers due to the large variety of items offered on air).
Prior to joining HSN, Monti served as Vice President of Logistics Development for the Bloomingdale's division of Federated Department Stores. In his 13 years with Federated, he held numerous operational positions supporting their merchandising efforts, including advanced receiving /cross-dock distribution, quality control systems, and the implementation of common best practices throughout the Federated distribution network.
Monti received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University, New York. A native of Long Island, he currently resides with his family in Tampa, Florida.
