BLOGS FOR CHRIS SPENCER & SAMMY DAVIS

CASTING (Premiered September 14, 2005) - The trip to Los Angeles was fun and laid back, but when we arrived at the auditions it became that much more serious. We felt pretty good about pitching our own product, but when we advanced to the second round, we didn't really know what to expect. Finding out about the banana pitch definitely made us a lot more nervous. Pitching our own product is one thing, but a banana? What can you do with that?!? When we heard the announcement that we'd made it to the next stage, we were crunk!

DOES IT WORK? (Premiered September 21, 2005) - Things started to feel much more intense when we first saw The Lab. This environment was so advanced that it really helped our approach with each challenge we faced - it made us approach everything even more seriously. We were excited to get out of the lab and do the egg drop; building the "Mother Goose" was a blast. It was like we were a part of a MacGyver episode. Our device was the most creative of the bunch and pretty functional as well. We can definitely say we did the best that we could do. When the elimination came up we were confident we could make it through, because we solved the Q and A problems that were identified. We were very happy with the results of most of the challenges we faced.

DOES IT LOOK GOOD? (Premiered September 29, 2005) - Marketing and packaging was an interesting part of the show for us. When it came to our packaging, it was a no-brainer to have Sam on the box. He is a NFL starting defensive back, so it definitely gave us an edge when it came to credibility. We were happy with our finished design, but we could have done even better. With a little more time we may have chosen a different name or even laid out the box in a different way. All in all, we were happy with the finished results and so were the judges.

DO PEOPLE LIKE IT? (Premiered October 7, 2005) - We were excited about focus group testing. Our group responded, and it definitely gave us confirmation that there is a market for our product. Losing Sammy to training camp, was definitely a blow, but we've come too far to let that stop us. The makeover was the first challenge that I had to face on my own, but what can you do for an African-American guy in a beauty salon? It's a real skill to know how to properly cut a "fade," so black men are pretty particular about where they get their haircut. Many beauticians are not good at fading and this one cut my hair too low... oh well. When it came time to choose my outfit, I thought I should wear something athletic since I'm selling athletic gear. Unfortunately, the fashion expert thought different. I still had a fun time with the challenge and felt good about facing the judges. I'm on my way to HSN!

READY TO PITCH? (Premiered October 14, 2005) - I was so excited to be in the finals and travel to HSN! Everything that happened there was intense because this was it. I tried to keep my mind ON representing my team and winning. Win or lose, I feel like Sammy and I have had a really successful run. We still want to win though! We can't wait to see how America votes.

AND THE WINNER IS... - The HydroMax Team (Chris Spencer, Sam Davis, Carl Henderson, and our silent partner "GOD") is absoulutely 100 percent pleased with the results of the show and the support of the viewers. We feel that us winning is a testament to how much parents care about their kids and how important hydration is to an athlete. We feel very fortunate to have won a contract with HSN, and we all believe and hope that all the teams we competed against will be successful. Thanks to all the supporters of the HydroMax System, USA Network for giving us a chance, and to all of the judges, host, and staff members that assisted in bringing us one step closer to making our dreams become reality. God bless!
