Det. Alex Eames
Detective Alex Eames (Kathryn Erbe) is the perfect complement to Detective Goren. She understands Goren's eccentric techniques better than anyone, but as senior partner she isn't afraid to hold him accountable for the novel police procedures that he sometimes employs. If there's anyone who can keep Goren in check, it's Eames. She's his steadying influence.
At the same time, their partnership has galvanized Eames and taken her to a whole new level of police work. She'd be the first to admit that.
After a successful stint with NYPD Vice – where Eames excelled undercover – she earned a transfer to Major Case Squad.
Eames had initially joined the force to follow in the footsteps of her father, a career cop who was later forced to retire for taking bribes. She married an officer who was killed in the line of duty. Her deep tradition in police work has made her hard-nosed, analytical, and respectful of police procedures.
A couple of years ago Eames offered to be the surrogate mother of her sister's baby. Following that maternity leave, she resumed her role as Goren's partner and has since tried to shake the depression of relinquishing her sister's baby.
This season, dark chapters from Eames' past will resurface threatening to drive a wedge between Eames and Goren.
