FOR THE WEEK OF August 3, 2008

Hi! My name is Diane Kratofil Freitag, and I have been watching Law & Order: Criminal Intent for years, sometimes every day of the week! I have the first three seasons on DVD, and I mostly bought them for the behind the scenes footage. The most intriguing thing about watching the show is the subtle bits of information that are given in such a quick moment. Sometimes I need to hear them over and over again to really catch everything. It is this intelligent writing that keeps me watching, even when I know the episode so well that I can recite the lines! The chemistry between Goren and Eames is really great because it is a deep and respectful friendship that they have for each other, even though at first Eames was unsure how to handle Goren's admittedly unusual tactics. As she said in "The Wee Small Hours," it was an "acquired taste." Goren has done so many things that Eames would never do, such as taking a toke off a blunt, eating suspects' food, drinking on the job, etc., that I found it funny how she finally softened up her by-the-book attitude and was actually having a martini at the bar with Goren! They definitely compliment each other, and she seems to be his best friend. It is so hard to pick a favorite, because I have favorite scenes rather than episodes, and the awesome cast of guest stars makes it even more difficult. For pure patholigical interest, I LOVED "The Posthumus Collection!" What a fascinating insight into the way childhood abuse manifests itself as an adult. I find the psychology behind the crimes as interesting as the actors. Over the years, we fans have learned little bits about the personal lives of CI's two best detectives, and I really like the fact that recently we have been fed more. Rather than taking away from the crime solving and the mystery, it adds a level of humanity that only enhances the show. I hope it continues to be the case. It only makes me love the show more! Keep up the good work, and thank you for the best-written show on television. Sincerely, Diane Kratofil Freitag
