"The Wake-Up Bomb" - Venice, Italy
"For starters, what I do — it's not like what you see in the movies. I've been in a place over a week now that's famous for its sightseeing and I've mostly been stuck in my hotel room." —Annie Walker
The "City of Canals" is one of the cultural and sightseeing capitals of Europe — and also serves as the location for the first mission we see Annie on in Season 2.5, where she learns the difficulties a CIA operative can face when being chased on someone else's home turf.
- The Venice scenes were filmed as part of a longer European shoot that encompassed all three European destinations in Season 2.5 (Venice, Berlin, Stockholm), supervised by Executive Producers Doug Liman and Matt Corman.
- One reason for selecting Venice was the geography of the city — the tight, labyrinthine walkways are perfect for a foot chase, providing an action sequence the show hadn't done before.
- A difficulty the writers face when writing an action sequence is that much of what ends up on-screen is dependent on the location — meaning, other than specific story points that need to remain, much of the actual choreography can change once on set.
