ABOUT THE SHOW

Hayden Fox (Craig T. Nelson) is the head coach of the Minnesota State Screaming Eagles, a college football program with a long history of failure. With (and sometimes despite) the help of his assistant coaches, the often air-headed but always well-meaning Luther Van Dam (Jerry Van Dyke) and bumbling former player Michael "Dauber" Dybinski (Bill Fagerbakke), Hayden slowly develops the team into a perennial college bowl contender, and eventually gets his big break when he is offered the chance to coach an NFL expansion team.

Meanwhile, Hayden struggles to balance the demands of his testosterone-heavy job with his relationships with two women: his girlfriend Christine (Shelley Fabares), a TV anchorwoman on the fast track to stardom, and his daughter Kelly (Clare Carey) from an earlier failed marriage. Can Hayden find a way to be successful both on and off the field?
