Emmy Award-winner Ted Danson stars as Dr. John Becker, a dedicated and talented physician extremely devoted to his medical practice in the Bronx. However, because Dr. Becker looks at the world around him and sees a society gone mad, he has no qualms about saying anything that comes to mind ... anything.

The surly doctor often unleashes his views on his friends – Jake (Alex Desert), the blind proprietor of the local newsstand; Bob (Saverio Guerra), the annoying yet likable super of Becker's apartment building; head nurse Margaret (Hattie Winston); Linda (Shawnee Smith), the slightly ditzy nurse's aide; and Reggie (Terry Farrell), who runs Becker's favorite local diner and may have a soft spot for the gruff doctor.

Dealing with the acerbic doctor can be quite the experience, as his friends and colleagues will attest, but even though they're often on the receiving end of many of his insults they continue to stick around knowing there's a nice guy buried down inside … somewhere.
