Announced Wednesday, Rami Malek earned his second Screen Actors Guild nomination in the category of Best Male Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot.
season_2.0 of Mr. Robot, which premiered on USA Network this summer, delves into the idea of control -- and perhaps no character on television is better suited to explore this theme than Malek's Elliot Alderson. Lauded for his portrayal of a character who is at once compelling and confounding, brilliant and beguiling, Malek won the Emmy in September for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and is also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series, which was annonuced this past Monday.
For the SAG Award, Malek is up against Sterling K. Brown who plays Randall Pearson on NBC's This Is Us, Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister on HBO's Game of Thrones, John Lithgow for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in Netflix's The Crown, and Kevin Spacey, who won the SAG Award last year for his performance in Netflix's House of Cards as Frank Underwood.
The 23rd annual SAG Awards will be presented live on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 8p EST/5p PST on TNT and TBS. See the full list of nominees on Entertainment Weekly.
