ABOUT THE MOVIE

Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler, who also co-wrote the script) is a frustrated hockey player who has never been able to realize his dreams of NHL stardom. Even worse, the IRS has just repossessed his grandmother's house, and Happy doesn't have the money to help her.

After discovering his hockey skills have also given him the ability to drive a golf ball hundreds of yards, Happy wins a tournament qualifier and decides to join the PGA TOUR in hopes of earning the money he needs. But to do it, Happy will have to overcome two very big obstacles. For one, despite his name, Happy is not a very happy person, with a bad temper that frequently leads to wild tantrums out on the golf course (including a fist fight with "The Price is Right" host Bob Barker). And while Happy may have one of the longest drives in PGA history, his putting game is atrocious.

Can a sympathetic publicist (Julie Bowen) and a retired golf pro (Carl Weathers) help Happy adjust his confrontational attitude and perfect his putting game in time to beat reigning PGA champion Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) and earn enough money to prevent his grandmother's house from being auctioned off?
