ABOUT THE MOVIE

A down-on-his-luck director Bobby Bowfinger (Steve Martin) is convinced he’s found an Oscar-worthy script, a cheesy sci-fi flick entitled, “Chubby Rain”. A famous producer will back the film under one condition: Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy), Hollywood’s hottest A-list action star must be in it.

When Ramsey refuses the part, Bowfinger sinks to any level to produce the film himself--including stealing film equipment from a major studio, enlisting illegal aliens as his camera crew and hiring the cheapest talent available in Southern California: an attractive up-and-comer from Ohio, an over-the-hill stage actress, and Kit’s look-alike brother named Jiff.

Bowfinger must now set the stage to film the unsuspecting Kit with a $2000 budget and no Hollywood backing. Meanwhile, his overly enthusiastic actors become entangled in this covert production, ultimately leading to Kit’s nervous breakdown and the film's big finale.
