ABOUT THE MOVIE
Billy Madison (Adam Sandler, who also co-wrote the script) is the son of a very rich man who has worked hard to build a hotel empire. Billy, on the other hand, is a 28 year-old, non-working, barely-educated slacker who is happy to spend his days drinking beer and reading girly magazines by the pool. When his father (Darren McGavin) realizes that Billy is completely unfit to inherit his business, he decides to force Billy to go back to school and earn a real education. Billy figures he'll have no problem getting through high school again - but it turns out Billy's father bought Billy's passing grades all the way back through elementary school! Now Billy must pass all 12 grades, spending only two weeks in each grade, to prove that he has what it takes to run the family business. While struggling with his schoolwork, Billy also tries to win the affections of Veronica (Bridgette Wilson), a sexy schoolteacher who thinks her students are more mature than Billy is. Is there any hope for this overwhelming underachiever?
