OVERVIEW OF CINCINNATI, OH

CINCINNATI, OH
Cincinnati, OH, one of a handful of major cities through which Highway 50 passes, is located in the southwest corner of the state on the banks of the Ohio River. This historically rich boomtown – known as "The Queen City of the West" – was one of the major centers of industry and trade in the Northwest Territories, a gateway to the American West, and a center of abolitionist and Underground Railroad activity.

Though its growth has slowed over the last century (its population of a little over 330,000 people has remained essentially constant for over 120 years, and the city has been eclipsed in size by Columbus and Cleveland), Cincinnati is still home to several art museums, a symphony, an opera company, and several universities, and such sources of local pride as The Cincinnati Reds, the country's oldest baseball franchise, the Purple People Bridge, one of the country's purplest people bridges, and Cincinnati Chili, a favorite hometown dish beloved by locals and ... maybe just locals.
