GEORGE CLOONEY

Day Job: Actor, world's most unattainable but most desirable bachelor

Famous For: "Gorgeous George" received an Oscar and a Golden Globe for his role in Syriana, was nominated twice for an Emmy for playing Dr. Doug Ross in E.R. and won the hearts of millions of female-and quite a few male-fans as Danny Ocean in Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen. His current film, Michael Clayton, recently opened to critical acclaim and Oscar buzz. Whether he's in front of the camera flashing that famous smile or working behind-the-scenes as a writer, director or producer, there's no denying the Clooney magic.

Cause Célèbre: While Clooney may be a big box office draw, regularly pulling down $20 million per picture for himself, he will just as quickly take a huge pay cut to put out a film that is not only important to him, but also contains serious social messages. Syriana, a film in which he acted as well as co-executive produced, brought the issue of America's reliance on foreign oil and the corruption it encourages, to the fore. To make the matter more actionable, one of the film's producers, Participant Productions, worked with the Sierra Club and the National Resources Defense Council to create a campaign called Oil Change. In his own efforts to walk the walk, George ditched his Beemer and became the first American to get a Tango, a fully-electric, zero emission two-seater car, which helped to land him on the cover of Vanity Fair's first green issue in May 2006, with best gal pal and former co-star, Julia Roberts, Al Gore, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
