Our heart is still racing from last night’s Eyewitness cliffhanger -- we hope you’re holding up! Between a surprise visit from Philip's mother, Anne, to Lukas descending deeper into post-traumatic stress to Mithat being set up for his daughter’s death, "The Lilies” packed one punch after the next. Here’s how audiences were reacting on social media. (Read the full recap here.)
[Warning: Contains major spoilers for Eyewitness 105]
“Because I like you, idiot.”
Eyewitness 105 came out from the gate with a heartwarming moment between Lukas and Philip. To Philip’s surprise, Lukas admits to not sleeping with Rose.
And of course James Paxton, who plays Lukas, fed into the fun.
Lukas buys Philip a camera.
Audiences’ collective heart melted even more when after pawning off his father’s watch, Lukas buys Philip a secondhand Polaroid camera.
We have a love-hate relationship with Lukas.
Despite his bursts of sincerity this week, Lukas still makes it hard for us to love him. Between scheming to steal Phlip’s mother’s drugs and lying to dad about Rose getting an abortion, this was still a trying hour on Lukas pushing our buttons.
Helen and Kamilah are giving us heart eyes.
Another relationship that viewers honed in on this episode was Helen and Kamilah, who’ve always had a playful mutual respect for one another, despite butting heads on more than one occasion.
Anne arrives and shows Lukas some love.
Anne showing up may be illegal, but it still made us smile to see her express support for her son and Lukas’ relationship. And watching Philip take on the role of caretaker made us love him even more!
It was one of actress Carlyn Burchell’s favorite scenes, too!
Mithat gets set up and shot.
While much of this episode was dedicated to the boys and their relationship, Ryan was hard at work switching out his DNA sample found in Bella’s autopsy with Mithat’s to set him up for rape and murder. His plan is brought to a halt, however, when Sita, in an attempt to get back in with the Vescovi brothers, shoots Mithat dead, all while Kamilah watches from afar. It was yet another twist we didn’t see coming.
That ending left Twitter shook.
Then as if Mithat’s death weren’t enough of a cliffhanger, Philip tries to help Lukas through his depression in the only way he knows how: He tells the truth. When Helen and Gabe drop Anne off at rehab with Philip, Philip is too distracted by an onslaught of worrisome, suicidal texts from Lukas. In a panic, he tells Helen that Lukas was at the cabin the night of the murders. How will Helen react? We’ll have to tune in next week to find out!
