Debbie is the caretaker for thirteen-year-old Josh, a boy to whom she feels more maternal than she probably should. She and Josh are living in an enigmatic, walled compound in the Arizona desert, which is run by Pastor Tad Billingham. As an important deadline nears, Debbie becomes increasingly conflicted about the role she must play and her faltering faith. What the others may not realize is that her quiet demeanor belies her strong survival instincts, honed from years of pain, heartbreak and personal challenges.

Emmy Award nominee Lauren Ambrose stars as Debbie Morgan, a dedicated follower of evangelist Tad Billingham (David Costabile).  She lives at his compound in the New Mexico desert and spends most of her time looking after fellow disciple 13-year-old Josh (Zen McGrath).

Ambrose most recently starred in “Sleepwalk with Me,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Additional film credits include “About Sunny,” which garnered Ambrose an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Performance, “Wanderlust,” “The Other Woman,” “Cold Souls,” “A Dog Year,” “Starting Out in the Evening” and “Diggers.”  Ambrose won the OutFest L.A. Grand Jury Award for Outstanding Actress for her lead performance in "Swimming” and "Psycho Beach Party.”  On television, Ambrose recently had recurring roles on “Law & Order: SVU” and “Torchwood: Miracle Day.”

Additionally, she appeared in “The Return of Jezebel James”  and also was the voice of KW in “Where the Wild Things Are.”  Ambrose made her Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning “Awake and Sing!” and appeared in “Exit the King” and “Buried Child.”
