Burning Question: What’s up with 24601?
We haven’t seen or heard anything about the pods since season two. Now, a man with “24601” tattooed on his back attempts to escape an isolated barge outside of Seattle – and is promptly knocked out by guards. Even though we don’t see him actually escape the pod, he shows all the associated symptoms – including puking green bile. What’s going on here? SIDE BURNING QUESTION: What’s with the loincloth? SIDE REVELATION: “24601” was Jean Valjean’s prisoner number in Les Miserables.
Question: What Kind of “Bioweapon” is the Seattle Colony is Working on?
When Will and Broussard finally get to talk for the first time in season three, Broussard reveals some disturbing information. “Seattle’s a critical asset,” Broussard says. “They’re working on something big here, some kind of bioweapon.” Later, he and Amy recover some sort of invincibility cloak that can apparently stop bullets. What is it, exactly, and how will it be used?
Revelation: Kynes is in Charge of Seattle
Kynes is alive, and – from the looks of things – doing very well for himself as the leader of the new Seattle colony. He’s managed to restore order, works with the Hosts to create “mutant cabbages” for Seattle’s inhabitants, and even has the privilege of giving a bloc-wide tour to Snyder.
Question: What’s Going on with the “Portland” camp?
Katie has been suspicious about the Seattle colony since last episode, but it’s not until she follows an older man onto a transfer bus that she gets a clearer picture. “Due to a temporary housing shortage in Seattle, you have been selected for an exciting new opportunity in the Portland colony,” says an announcement over the bus’s PA system. But when they arrive in “Portland”, it looks more like a labor camp. Katie goes to her boss, but is told not to ask questions. What’s going on?
Revelation: Snyder and Kynes Actually Aren’t So Buddy-Buddy
At first, it seemed like Snyder met with Everett Kynes to better understand his Seattle success story. The two got along well during Kynes’ personally-guided tour of the colony. But in his hotel bathroom, Snyder masks his phone and reports to the authorities – likely the IGA – about Kynes’ actions: “It’s even worse than we thought. He’s in direct communication with the Hosts.” Once again, sneaky Snyder is on the case!
Question: Can Will Get Revenge on Snyder?
Will sees Snyder – briefly – in Seattle, and almost goes berserk, screaming at Amy to get out of the car. When Broussard demands he explain himself, Will doesn’t say all that much, but Broussard gets the picture: Will is going to kill Snyder.
