Something tells us that things will never be the same after this week's episode of Colony. Both Will and Katie seem to be past the point of no return. And what kind of life is there to return to anyway? Here are our major revelations and burning questions after watching Colony 209!
[Warning: Contains spoilers for Colony season 2, episode 9 “Tamam Shud"]
Revelation: Guys like Bob and Dan Are Just … Bad
In a world of ambiguity, there are still some folks whose moral compasses point really far south. Transitional Authority henchmen Bob Burke and Dan Bennett seemed to genuinely delight in taking down their fellow humans. Case in point: Burke relished identifying Katie as the Resistance member who helped capture a RAP at the end of season one. These guys aren’t just complicit; they’re into it!
Burning Question: Who’s On the Other Side of the Radio?
“All outlets shift to signal 2 immediately!” is the last thing Broussard and Katie heard before they lost contact with “Den Mother.” All outlets? So there’s a network of people here and Los Angeles is just one piece of it. Who are they, where are they, and how many of them are there?
Revelation: Analog Signals Don’t Tip Off the Drones
As the inhabitants of the colonies adapt to their new Hosts, they have figured out a way to communicate under the radar. We see the Resistance using old WWII radios and, as far as we can tell, the T.A. hasn’t figured out how to intercept these messages using any fancy surveillance technology.
Burning Question: What’s Life Like Outside the Bloc?
We already knew that there were other Blocs, but with the arrival of Noa, we really have to wonder what it’s like out there beyond L.A. How did she manage to get her hands on a plane (good thing she knows how to fix them too!) and what the heck are those towers in the background?
Revelation: Goldwyn Needs a Win
The political chess game between Goldwyn and Alcala progressed this week as Goldwyn worried about the IGA’s perception of her Bloc while Alcala continued to undermine her, making himself look in control. Goldwyn needs to strengthen her position; perhaps Snyder will be the one to help her do that.
Burning Question: What’s Up With the Gauntlet?
Here’s what we know: the Gauntlet is so important that people are willing to risk their lives for it (enter, Noa); they’re also willing to kill each other over it (who sliced Hennessey’s throat anyway?); the drones are actively searching for it (only a Faraday cage can keep its whereabouts a secret) and, people are being killed by it (R.I.P. BB). What is this piece of radioactive alien technology and why is it so critical to what comes next in the fight against the RAPs?
Revelation: Katie Has Gone Full-Fledged Badass
If anyone had questioned Katie’s commitment to the cause, episode 209 should’ve put those thoughts to bed. When Broussard and Katie rescued the Bowman kids in a blaze of glory, we witnessed her graduation from amateur rebel to full-blown professional. Her kids know it now too. Damn, Katie!
Burning Question: What Are the Bowmans Going to Do Now?
Will can’t go back to the T.A. now -- not after what he’s done to Burke. (Side Revelation: a bottle of orange soda costs $10? Pretty steep!) All the Bowmans are finally reunited, but where will they go and how much is Broussard willing to sacrifice to keep them safe?
