Hello, Chrisley Nation!
Remember me? Well, I should hope so!
What a crazy couple of months it’s been. Thank you to everyone who stayed in touch on social media since the last episode. We love hearing from our fans all year round -- not just when the show is on. It means so much to us to know you’re all out there and thinking about this family. We’re thinking about you too!
As you know by now, we took a little family trip since my last blog. That’s right! We brought the whole gang to Hawaii on a vacation. There were a lot of questions in the first half of the episode about my wanting to take the kids on the trip with us. But I think that, by the end, you all realized that this was more than an anniversary trip -- it was a second wedding!
Renewing our vows was more beautiful that I could have ever imagined. Seeing Julie that day was like I was seeing her for the first time again.I know we weren’t all gussied up or anything, but I loved that it was who we really are in that moment. When I looked at my wife that day, all I could think about was how blessed I am to be married to that woman for 20 years. She has given me everything, and I meant what I said -- my worst day with Julie is a million times better than my best day without her.
And for everyone who was laughing at that sunset cruise -- how the hell was I supposed to know what EDM is!? I just thought it was going to be a romantic night out on the boat. If I wanted to be surrounded by a bunch of crazy young people, I would have stayed home with my own kids!
I have to tell you, at this stage in my life, I’m realizing that some of my biggest challenges with my kids are yet to come. I never thought it would be this hard to be the parent of adult children, but, as you’ll see this season, there’s a whole new set of issues to deal with when your kids are making the transition into young adults. They leave the nest, but you’re still trying to manage their lives -- only now, there’s a whole set of other outside influences that start to interfere.
People who have been watching the show for a while know that it’s been a priority for us to raise our daughters to be strong, independent women, and, boy! Has that come back to bite me in the ass this season! Meanwhile, Chase is trying to get into real estate, so I’m trying to teach him what I know without micro-managing him. Can you imagine what that’s like?
Thank you to everyone who watched Facebook live this week! I love being able to connect with so many of you in real time. I’ll let you know when the next one is happening.
Love you all. We appreciate you all so very much!
Until next time,
