Dear Chrisley Nation:
I hope everyone wished Chase a happy birthday yesterday! I can’t believe my boy is 20! I’m so, so proud of him.
It’s times like what you see in this week’s episode that I’m reminded of what wonderful children I have. Yes, I love them ALL the time. That’s not up for debate. But these moments where the family comes together are a true blessing from God.
And let’s be clear, this episode did not start out very promising. As usual, Savannah and Chase were at each other’s throats -- only, this time, their bickering was actually starting to negatively impact the Juice Bar. I knew we had to get these two on the same page, but “team-building” was nothing short of a disaster. Not only did Chase and Savannah fight the ENTIRE time, but I can’t think of anything I would rather do than reenact George of the Jungle on that nightmare of an obstacle course.
Of course, none of it mattered once I got the call from Julie who was with my mother in Atlanta. As you know, we’ve been down that road before with Julie’s breast cancer, so when I heard about my mother’s lump, it was an all-consuming fear for me. Just the thought that the one person who has been by my side for 47 years might not be there -- it was unbearable.
By God’s grace, Nanny is okay. I was so relieved when she and Julie called with the good news, and many of you shared in our relief on social media. I can’t tell you how humbling it is to have people out there who care about this family. We’re genuinely thankful.
Also this week, I had a fan who said that our show brings her and her grandmother closer because it’s something they can watch together. I LOVE that. No matter what your differences are, families are supposed to come together. That’s what this episode is about, what this show is about, and what this family is about. The fact that we could bring another family together makes me happier than you’ll ever know.
Thanks again for coming along on this crazy journey with us every Tuesday night! Next week, I’ll be trying out Facebook Live before the show instead of Periscope, so I can connect with you even more in real time!
