Dear Chrisley Nation:
What an awesome week this has been! All of your birthday wishes on Facebook and Twitter made my day! Also, I’m sure you’ve all seen by now how Savannah SLAYED on the red carpet at the ACM Awards Sunday night. Was it the dress I would have picked out for her? Probably not, but she ended up on every best-dressed list from here to Paris, so what the hell do I know? My girl Savannah looked absolutely flawless.
All in all, it was a very special night. Access Hollywood asked me to be a guest correspondent and I was able to interview some amazing country music legends, including the one and only DOLLY PARTON!!! So, yes, this has been a very good birthday week.
Now onto this week’s episode, which featured the most pathetic break-out in television history. After last week’s “Boochie-Coochie” debacle and her most recent casino run, I hope you are starting to understand why I can seem overly-protective of my mother. And it doesn’t help that she chose two of the Three Stooges for her aiding and abetting. Seriously, can anyone think of a single time that Chase and Grayson successfully pulled off one of their harebrained schemes?
Listen, there’s no manual for how to take care of your parents as they get older. I’m learning (and I can thank Julie for this) to give my mother her space right now. We’re very lucky to be able to provide her with whatever she needs, but -- just as importantly -- we’ve opened the lines of communication about when and when not to step in. I trust that my mother is going to let me know when she needs us, and we’ll be there to answer the call when it comes!
As for my youngest child, I have to hand it to him. I’ve never seen someone work so hard to get out of working. Now, if Grayson can channel that energy into doing something besides playing video games, we might have the next Todd Chrisley on our hands!
People always ask me if I’m surprised at how well my older kids are doing and I tell them no. I’m not surprised because Julie and I have been teaching them the value of hard work since they were little. I’m so proud when I see Chase working on his podcast or Savannah putting together her fashion line. These things are the direct result of building a strong work ethic over many, many years. And now it’s Grayson’s turn to start doing the same thing! But, for the love of God, why did he have to pick the drums???
Wish us luck with Baby Travis Barker and, again, thank you so much for making me feel special on my birthday. We feel truly blessed and humbled to have THE BEST FANS in the world!
