WHY PATRICK IS CHARACTER APPROVED
If you're looking to add "cool" to your brand, fashion designer Patrick Robinson should be your first call. That's exactly what Gap did when they named Robinson as their Executive Vice President of Design in 2007 and tasked him with creating buzzworthy, affordable clothes. Robinson, an ex-surfer dude from Southern California, has proven for years that he can make beautiful, high-minded clothes, having designed at Paco Rabanne, Perry Ellis, Giorgio Armani, and Anne Klein. But could he create them for a mass-market audience? His response was a Fall 2008 collection showcased at New York's Fashion Week, a first for Gap, that was praised for bringing a smart and high-minded fashion sense to the classic Gap product line. Robinson has kept his own point-of-view while showing a big company how to be hip again, and he's impressing everyone along the way with his style and leadership. Now that's cool. And undeniably Character Approved.
