PROFILE

As a co-founder of Kiva.org, the world's first peer-to-peer microlending website, Jessica Jackley has helped entrepreneurs from across the world make their dreams come true. Kiva's mission is "to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty" by allowing users to lend money to small business owners in the developing world. Since its inception in 2005, the site has made some $100 million worth of connections between lenders and business owners. That's a lot of money-and, for many entrepreneurs, a lot of dreams realized. We can't think of anyone more deserving of Character Approved recognition than the extraordinary young woman who helped make that all happen.
