We envision the powerful effects of a robust model that establishes cost effective after-school music programs throughout urban communities. We envision harnessing the existing resources of leading youth development organizations in collaboration with higher education institutions to leverage their expertise, facilities, and financial resources to create music programs that would not otherwise exist. We envision the power of music to pull youth off dangerous city streets. Imagine the impact that music can make on the life of a young person. Music provides a vehicle for creativity, fostering a sense of accomplishment and increased self-esteem that positively affects all aspects of a young person's development.
