ABOUT YVES

The work created by Yves Behar and fuseproject, his San Francisco-based design firm, is among the most forward-looking and forward-thinking in the world, but Behar's designs don't simply reflect the future, they shape it. Since founding fuseproject in 1999, Behar's designs, including the already-iconic Jawbone Bluetooth headset, Leaf Lamp for Herman Miller, and XO laptop-the first $100 laptop created to bring education and technology to the world's poorest children-have resonated powerfully with consumers as well as earned him international recognition. Behar's work is part of the permanent collections of many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, has been featured in several solo exhibitions, and has garnered him awards such the prestigious National Design Award for industrial design from the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian National Design Museum. But awards aren't the goal-emotional connection is. Behar's focus is on designing innovative and relevant products for the needs of the 21st century, from Bluetooth headsets to Birkenstocks, which connect with people in an emotional and transformative way, enable self-expression, and support social progress.
